Artist's Comments

I took the photo for this just before these dancers were about to go on stage. They were performing Balanchine's "Serenade" and the color on the original is quite lovely; the tutus are pale blue with two small pale yellow "stripes" in the front, but when I drained the color it took on a new meaning. No one saw me take this picture. This work is dedicated to everyone who sees things literally no one else does and also to the many, many dancers out there who are trying to do this for a living--it's such a hard profession and in this country especially I think it's underappreciated.

Please don't get mad at me for submitting this under photomanips--I know it's not that much compared to what some people do, but I thought it was unfair to put it in photography...do advise if you wish.

I LOVE you lol, thank you, and I love their tutus as well. They are longer and stiffer than the normal Romantic tutus and they just look fantastic onstage. I have one more photo from this series which I forgot to submit which I will do today; another rehearsal one from the beginning of Serenade.
